Baldface is one of the largest snowcat skiing and snowboarding operations in the world, set in the heart of Canada’s Selkirk Mountains, just north of Nelson, British Columbia, with over 32,000 acres of open bowls, peaks, and perfectly spaced trees receiving 500+ inches of snow annually. Guests are flown from Nelson to the backcountry village in a short helicopter flight, arriving at a full resort village that serves as the hub of activity for their stay. The terrain spans everything from scenic cruisers in open bowls to challenging steeps in the trees, and guides aim to operate at the highest safety standard while delivering a variety of fresh tracks each day. All-inclusive lodge reservations cover accommodation, guided cat skiing and snowboarding, all meals, an avalanche safety course, and emergency medical evacuation insurance. The lodge is nestled in the sub-alpine at an elevation of 6,700 feet and offers massage, sauna, yoga, gourmet food and wine, and luxury lodging including seven timber-frame chalets and a main lodge with private suites. In addition to the flagship multi-day lodge experience, Baldface now offers Valhalla — a day-trip product giving access to advanced terrain for riders who want a taste of the operation without a full stay.

Apex Mountain Resort
Apex Mountain Resort is one of BC’s hidden gems, located just 30 minutes from Penticton in the heart of the South Okanagan. The resort sits on Beaconsfield Mountain with 605 metres of vertical across 73 trails and 450 hectares of skiable terrain, making it compact but punchy — particularly for advanced and expert riders. Apex is the only mountain in the Okanagan that faces northeast, meaning its light, dry champagne powder is less affected by sun and can last for days after a snowfall, with an average seasonal snowfall of around 500 cm. Crowds are negligible compared to neighbouring Okanagan resorts like Big White and SilverStar, which makes it a standout destination for powder hounds who want steep terrain without the lineups. Beyond skiing and snowboarding, the resort offers night skiing, a tube park, a skating loop through the forest, and a Snow School for all ability levels. A full-service village with dining, accommodation ranging from mountain apartments to multi-bedroom log cabins, and a welcoming local atmosphere complete the experience.
